Starting Point:

The Starting Point telephone helpline offers information and support to people aged 50 and over on how to access services relevant to their needs and to help maintain their independence.

Starting Point service has been contracted through Wigan Council since April 2005. The purpose of the service is to provide a telephone helpline for people who are no longer eligible for help from Wigan Council.

This service provides information and advice on how to access reputable Domiciliary Care Agencies to help with everyday needs such as shopping, cleaning, ironing, low level personal care etc. In addition, if any other needs are identified by the Liaison Officer these will be discussed with you, and with your permission, you will be signposted to the appropriate service.

If necessary a home visit can be arranged from our Liaison Service to further discuss your needs in the comfort of your own home.

We aim to ensure that your requests are responded to within ten working days and aim to provide services within 28 days.
