Bright Days:

Keeping active and healthy helps you to feel better about yourself and being more active and enjoying life can have long term health benefits too.

Our Bright Days Programme aims to help you feel good and have fun.  It offers a wide range of activities to encourage you to get the most out of life, whether it is just having a cup of tea and a chat or doing something more active like swimming or walking or enjoying a sing along!

Befriending

Our Befriending Service provides support and companionship to people across the Wigan Borough, either by home visits or by telephone.  The Befriending Volunteer is also able to identify concerns and issues so that referrals can be made to the appropriate service or organisation.

  1. Home Visits - Our home visits take place on weekdays only, between the hours of 9.00 am and 5.00 pm and last for approximately 1 hour.
  2. Telephone Befriending -The days for telephone befriending are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, between the hours of 10.00 am and 12 noon approximately, and the times of the phone calls are arranged by mutual agreement
  3. Care to Chat? - Our telephone befriending group chat once a month.

The criteria for the Service is that the person should:

  • Be over the age of 60.
  • Live alone.
  • Have no family involvement.
  • Have no involvement from other services
