Handyperson Services:

The Handyperson Service is a prevention service and the main emphasis is placed on tasks which will help:

  • Maintain a person’s independence in the home
  • Improve safety in the home
  • Improve security in the home
  • The Service user will be contacted within 7 working days
  • We aim for work to be carried out within 20 working day

Age UK Wigan Borough has established a well earned excellent reputation by consistently providing high quality and efficient service.

Below are some examples of what the Service can provide assistance with:

  • Levelling flags/pathways
  • Key Safes
  • Hand rails & Grab rails
  • Home security/safety   
  • Small plumbing/electrical work
  • Decorating small areas
  • Putting up shelves, pictures and curtain rails
  • Changing light bulbs

The charge for the service is currently £15.00 per job (not exceeding 2 hours) plus the cost of any materials that may be required.

Working in Partnership with

From October 2011 Age UK Wigan Borough Handyperson Service began working in partnership with Care and Repair Wigan Borough who provide help with small and major household repairs with the added support of:

    • Sourcing the appropriate tradesperson required on your behalf and
    • Planning the work with yourself and the tradesperson
    • Oversee and quality check any work carried out
