Hospital Information and Support Service:

The Hospital Information and Support Service aims to provide short term support to people 50 and over who are admitted into Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan.

The Hospital Information and Support Service was set up in 2003 firstly funded by Wigan Council and more recently by the PCT. The purpose of the service is to provide information and advice to patients who have low to moderate needs.

The Hospital Information and Support Service can provide information, advice and a wide range of services for people with low to moderate needs to help you remain as independent as possible.  This service is provided within Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. We can be contacted via ward visits, fax, telephone and referrals.

Our service users would be visited on their ward or via telephone; we would discuss services available and access their needs. With the patient’s permission they will be signposted to the appropriate service.

If necessary a home visit can be arranged from our Liaison Service to further discuss your needs in the comfort of your own home.

The aim of this service is to enable you to maintain your independence and make your own decisions!
